Do you want to build a website on the most versatile web platform ever created? Used by over 30% of websites? Yes, I’m talking about WordPress.

WordPress makes it easy to build a website for your business, whether that’s an online store or even a food blog.

So let me ask you: do you want to learn how to install WordPress yourself for your website with the click of a button? Well you’re in luck! Here we’ll walk you through a step-by-step the process for setting up WordPress on Bluehost.com.

Step 1. Visit Bluehost.com to Get Started

Before you install WordPress, you’re gonna need hosting. I have been using Bluehost for years for all of my WordPress projects. Why? Because it’s the #1 hosting service recommended by WordPress.

It is affordable, reliable, and perfect for beginners or anyone looking to launch their small business website. They also have top-notch, 24/7 support, which is crucial for any hosting platform.

To get started setting up a hosting plan visit bluehost.com and on the home screen click Get Started. How convenient!

Step 2. Choose a hosting plan

On the next screen choose the plan that best fits your needs.

If you only plan to launch and maintain 1 website then the basic plan is perfect for you. However if you plan on making more websites or have other domains then you may want to consider upgrading. Keep in mind you can always adjust your plan later.

Step 3. Choose a domain name

On this next screen you’ll be able to choose a domain name for your website.

If you already have one in mind then type it in the box and see if it’s available. If it is, awesome! Bluehost will let you know and you’ll be able to move on to the next screen.

On this screen you can select the terms of the account plan. There are usually 3 different options for different lengths of time and the best bang for your buck is definitely gonna be the 36 month option.

The package extras are totally up to you to choose from. If you feel like you’ll benefit from any of them then select the ones you need as part of your plan.

From here just enter your credit card information and you’ll be on your way.

In the following screen just follow the prompt to create your Bluehost account. Once that is created you’ll be logged into your account automatically.

Step 4. Install WordPress with Bluehost

After you’ve set up your account and have a domain you’ll be guided through a process to set up your new WordPress blog.

Follow the prompts provided by Bluehost to give them information about the website you’re setting up.

You’ll be asked:

  • If you need any help
  • What kind of site you’re creating
  • How comfortable you are with creating websites
  • What type of website is it?
  • Who are you creating it for?
  • What theme you want to apply

A note on themes… WordPress comes with a handful of free themes you can apply to your website. You can also choose from premium themes (i.e. paid themes) that provide additional functionality. I build websites using the Divi WordPress theme from Elegant Themes. You can learn more about why I use Divi to design WordPress websites here.

Once you finish answering all of these questions then Bluehost will automatically start installing WordPress for you with the information you provided.

Once that process completes you’ll be redirected to a dashboard screen where you can access the WordPress website you’ve just finished setting up.
